At the annual meeting of American Society for Behavioral Medicine (SBM) 19, the relationship between name and life span was specially discussed, and the death certificates of people who died in California from 1969 to 1995 were studied in detail. The conclusion is: "Men with derogatory abbreviations, such as pig, BUM( ***), UGH (bah), DIE (death), SAD (sadness) and so on. Life expectancy is 2.8 years shorter than those with meaningless abbreviations. The abbreviation is masculine, such as JOU (joy), LOV (love), WIN (win), WEL (health), WOW (great success), LIV (life) and so on. Live an average of 4.48 years longer than those men whose abbreviations are meaningless. In other words, men with positive names live 7.28 years longer than men with negative names. In the control group, the life expectancy of women with positive initials is 3.36 years longer than that of women with negative initials.

American behavioral medicine experts are naturally not superstitious. They combined people's race, gender, year of death, socio-economic status and parents' health status, but they still couldn't explain the results of the new study. The report said: "The surprising finding is that the names parents give their children seem to change the cause and time of their future death. People with derogatory abbreviations not only live shorter lives, but also suffer from more kinds of diseases and have the highest incidence of accidental death.
