Why is Wang Yangming short-lived?

Wang Yangming, known as a saint, is a rare master in the history of China. However, he was born in troubled times, and his ambition was unfulfilled all his life. He was worried about his country and people, fell ill, and even died at the age of 57 the following year. According to the standards of the ancients, Wang Yangming is indeed short-lived, but why did he do it? Let's continue to analyze it in depth.

First, be too hard on yourself.

Although the world is big, it has a good heart and a conscience. Although ordinary people can become saints. Wang Shouren (1472- 1529) was a famous thinker, writer and philosopher in Ming dynasty. He studied Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism all his life and was born in Yuyao County, Zhejiang Province (now Yuyao, Ningbo).

From these titles alone, we can know that he is an unusual figure, and he has shown extraordinary talents from an early age. Wang Yangming was a genius, completely different from Zeng Guofan, who was later called a semi-saint by the Qing Dynasty. Zeng Guofan was born with general qualifications, but Wang Yangming was different everywhere.

With such a good capital, it stands to reason that Wang Yangming's life should be smooth sailing, but according to his special abilities, he is particularly strict with his requirements. He is interested in Confucian classics, Taoism and Buddhism. He wants to study deeper things by himself and change the world by becoming a saint.

At first, I fell in love with Ren Xia's habits, then with riding and shooting, three with writing poems, four with immortals and five with Buddhism. These five times of drowning are basically the development process of his life, and cultivating immortals is Taoism, which was called this at that time.

Wang Yangming cares about the country and the people. /kloc-When he was 0/5 years old, he vowed to study the art of war and serve the country because the then Emperor Ming Yingzong was captured by Mongols. Unfortunately, no matter how deeply he studied and suggested to the emperor, he was not recognized by the emperor and was depressed.

Although it was not recognized by the emperor, it did not affect Wang Yangming's further study of various ideas. It is said that Wang Yangming 17 met a Taoist outside on their wedding day. They lost control of the rhythm and walked so far that they forgot their marriage. Then their father-in-law looked for him everywhere. This is obsession.

/kloc-when he was 0/8 years old, he studied Confucianism and found that Zhu and others put forward an idea of "learning from others", so Wang Yangming wanted to demonstrate it himself and study whether this idea was established. After watching bamboo for seven days and seven nights, Wang Yangming found that he found nothing and ruined his body. This is the famous story of "observing benevolence and learning bamboo". After this experience, he became interested in the idea.

These records are very interesting, but they contain Wang Yangming's pursuit of truth and belief, which highlights his harsh demands on himself. It is precisely because of these constant studies that Wang Yangming has challenged too many physical limits, which have no influence when he is young, but will naturally show up when he is old.

Second, my mother died of grief.

Wang Yangming was only about 12 years old. His mother Zheng died and her mother was short-lived. At that time, she was only 4 1 year old. After his mother died, Wang Yangming didn't want to eat tea, which was the stage of physical growth. Such excessive sadness certainly had an impact on her body, so she laid a curse for her body from an early age.

From the death of his mother, we can also see that Wang Yangming attaches importance to feelings and is sentimental. It is for these reasons that he is good at reflecting and worrying about human suffering and all kinds of things that have happened, which leads to his excessive depression and sensitivity. These are the reasons why he is unhealthy.

Third, the external environmental impact.

Wang Yangming lived in the turbulent period of the Ming Dynasty. He wanted to benefit the people of the country, so he was often used by the emperor and framed by some treacherous officials. 1506, Wang Yangming wrote to rehabilitate Dai, Bo and others. As a result, he was hurt by traitors and beaten 40 times by the emperor's rod. These 40 times have done great harm to Wang Yangming. You should know that the ancient cudgel was very cruel. Basically, ten strokes can make his skin fuzzy, not to mention 40 strokes is even more tragic.

Even though he was beaten 40 times with a stick, the emperor was heartless and exiled him to Longchang Post Station in Guizhou as a post servant. The living environment in Longchang, Guizhou is very bad. According to records, there is a "snake among thorns, a poisonous sore". In such an environment, who can hold on, even a completely healthy person can't stand it, not to mention that Wang Yangming was beaten with 40 sticks.

In this way, Wang Yangming continued to realize Tao in the harsh environment of Longchang, Guizhou. He is really a man of great perseverance and is worthy of admiration. During this period, his health also deteriorated. We can imagine that any normal person who has experienced physical and mental devastation will be sick or physically unbearable.

That is, the enlightenment and reflection during this period made Wang Yangming clear that it is impossible to solve the world problems by being an official. Only by edifying and influencing ordinary people through thoughts and making them change their minds can we reflect on national affairs and this country will not decline.

So Wang Yangming began to give lectures in his hometown and spread his thoughts, hoping to improve people. This matter lasted for six years and had a far-reaching impact on later generations. Unfortunately, Jiajing, a confused emperor, thought of Wang Yangming again and wanted him to help solve some problems. 1527, he ignored the fact that Wang Yangming was ill and forced him out of the mountain.

Wang Yangming refused, but he had to go to Tianzhou, Guangxi to pacify Cenmeng rebellion. The rebellion was finally put down, but Wang Yangming died at the age of 57 when he arrived in Nan 'an, Jiangxi Province on his way home.

Although Wang Yangming lived only 57 years old, he had a great influence on later generations. Because of the existence of such a person, our traditional culture and thoughts in China have been qualitatively improved, and now we can feel more classical philosophy and Confucianism.

The quality of human life lies not in the length, but in the height. Wang Yangming worried about the country and the people all his life, thinking about the world and trying to change the world by himself. Although he didn't succeed at that time, it turned out that he did what he wanted to do. It's a pity that for himself, he struggled for those philosophical thoughts all his life and never had a good life. Compared with Yan Shifan, who was also a gifted scholar in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty, Wang Yangming seems to lack too much in his life.

But this may be a deep thought left by history. Those cynical geniuses are doomed to be spurned by future generations. Only a genius who really thinks about the world can truly remain immortal and be admired by future generations. Whether a person wants to be a saint or be criticized depends on his own control!
