"Friendship with Qujing" —— Brief introduction of Bulang architecture, Bulang village and group life

Bulang nationality is also a mountainous nationality, living in rural areas, and living in groups is one of its national characteristics. Most Bulang villages are built on mountains over 2000 meters above sea level. The main condition of fence selection is convenient farming. Therefore, most houses in Brown Village are densely built on the hillside, and the villagers gather in the village and live in groups. The house is a dry bamboo building, located on the first floor and the first floor. The house is made of bamboo and wood, the upstairs is for people to live in, and there is no wall at the bottom to pile up sundries. The upstairs room is surrounded by bamboo fences or wooden boards, leaving only one door, and the indoor light is very dark. There are two roofs on all sides, which are double eaves, and the lower eaves are very long, 4~5 meters from the ground. There is a wooden ladder in front of the building.

There is a balcony upstairs with pots and jars filled with water. This is the place to wash clothes and hang them. The roof is covered with grass or tiles, and the floor is covered with bamboo basketry or wooden boards. The building is divided into three parts: a main room, a fireplace and a bedroom. The fireplace is located in the center, used for cooking, heating and lighting, and usually receives guests through the fireplace. The main room and bedroom are separated by bamboo basketry or wooden boards, and the bedroom has no bedstead. According to gender, it is located on the left and right sides and on the floor. Granaries are usually built outside houses or villages and piled on high platforms.

The Bulang people live in a village called Yonghe State. The difference is whether there is a ceremony to build a village. Before building a village, we should not only carefully choose the location of the village, but also choose the location through divination. After the village site was selected, a ceremony was held to build the village.

The ceremony was presided over by the Duke or Buddha. According to their instructions, the masses first surrounded the stockade with straw ropes and white lines. The host surrounded the poet, dripping with water. Following the dance of building the stockade, the villagers connected the straw ropes around the stockade in series, indicating that all people in Qi Xin are willing to unite and live in this place.

Then, the gates of four villages were built, and people broke ground to build houses in the circle. The stockade built in this way is called "Yong". "Country" means a shack. In the eyes of Bulang people, it is not a village, but a house for temporary rest.
