Oracle bone inscriptions were first discovered in 1860 in Xiaotun Village, Anyang, Henan Province.

Analysis: Oracle Bone Inscriptions, an ancient writing in China, is also called Wen Qi, Oracle Bone Inscriptions, Yin Ruins or tortoise shell and animal bones. It is the earliest mature Chinese character we can see, mainly referring to the characters carved on tortoise shells or animal bones by the royal family in the late Shang Dynasty in China. It is the earliest known written carrier of Shang Dynasty in China and East Asia. Most Oracle Bone Inscriptions were found in Yin Ruins in Anyang City, Henan Province, China. Yin Ruins are famous sites of Yin Shang Dynasty, including Xiaotun Village, Huayuanzhuang and Houjiazhuang in the northwest of Anyang City, Henan Province. It was once the capital of the central dynasty in the late Yin Shang Dynasty, so it was called Yin Ruins. These Oracle Bone Inscriptions are basically the divination records of Shang rulers.
