What do "Yin" and "Yang" mean?

"Yin Yao" and "Yang Yao" refer to two basic forms of eight diagrams in the Book of Changes. In the Eight Diagrams, each hexagram consists of three negative lines (also called "hexagrams") and three positive lines. If a hexagram is a positive line, it is called a positive line; If it is a negative line, it is called a negative line.

In the Book of Changes, gossip is an image symbol system that seeks the way of the universe through the change of yin and yang. Each hexagram has different meanings in its yin and yang changes. Yang Yao usually represents strength, vigor, vitality and positive power; On the other hand, Yin represents the forces of convergence, obedience, stillness and negativity.

In the philosophy of Zhouyi, "Yin and Yang" is a dichotomy of the universe, which is used to describe the interdependence and changes between the universe. Yin and Yang are opposites and interdependent, both of which belong to the universal nature of all things in the universe.
