What is the Gelao nationality?

Gelao nationality originated from Gupu people, and its national language is Gelao language. They worship their ancestors, such as the Bamboo King, the ancestors of barbarian king and the mountain gods. 1990, after the research of scholar Gong Yonghui and the discussion of ethnic representatives, the State Council approved the Lai people whose ethnic groups have not been determined for a long time as a branch of the Gelao nationality.
