In Historical Records and Hanshu, there is no record that Liu Bang's name is "Bang", which was later taken. In Hanshu Yinyi, Gou Yue explained: "When the national character is taboo, the national character is called the country." "Bang" means "country", that is, after success, Liu Bangcai took the name of "Bang" by himself. It is impossible to verify whether it came into being during Hanwang or after he ascended the throne.

At that time, ordinary civilians had only surnames but no first names. Because they are just ordinary farmers with humble origins, it is impossible for the Liu family to have a name. The squire in historical records is "Grandpa Liu" and Liu Wei is "Mother Liu", which is obviously not a decent or interesting title.

Liu Bang's "Ji" is not a real word. The ancient brothers in China were Bo, Zhong, Shu and Ji according to their generations. The eldest is Bo, the second is Zhong, the third is Uncle, and the fourth is Ji. Season is a nickname.

According to historical records, Liu Bang's eldest brother is indeed called Liu Bo, his second brother is also called Liu Zhong, and his fourth brother Liu Bang has been called Liu Ji since he was a child. This is not a meaningful word.

Interestingly, in Historical Records and Hanshu, the word "bang" can't be found in all the words, which means that it is really taboo, but the word "season" is not taboo. In other words, "bang" is indeed the name of Liu Bang, but the season is only the representative of the ranking, and it has no meaning in itself.
