How do Jingpo people worship ghosts?

Jingpo people believe in animistic primitive religion and worship nature and ancestors. They believe that the sun, the moon, birds, animals, stones and trees all have souls, which may be good or bad for people. Whenever we encounter sowing, harvesting, diseases, weddings, funerals, fights and other major events, we should invite wizards to sacrifice pigs, cows and chickens. Sacrificing the gods of agriculture and the spirits of grain has formed a complete set of forms among Jingpo people. When cutting down forests and burning land, we must first pray through Dongsa.

In order to obtain high yield, Dongsa was asked to offer heaps of grain and beans, and to perform a ceremony of "calling the soul of grain" in order to call back the frightened soul of grain when threshing. As soon as the new grain comes down, Bona's first taste will preside over the agricultural sacrifice. Therefore, there are many kinds of rituals related to agriculture, such as sowing sacrifices, sacrifices to mother earth, sacrifices to grain piles and sun ghosts, sacrifices to celestial ghosts and wind ghosts. Sacrifice ceremonies for ghosts and gods are mostly collective sacrifices in the village, which are often held every few years. The sacrificial period is determined by the wizard's divination. The sacrifice consists of 1 live boar, 1 rooster, 1 tree mouse, 1 bowl of rice and 4 slices of ginger.

Worshipers offer sacrifices once a year during spring sowing and autumn harvest. In the field, they use 1 pair of chickens, 2 pairs of dried fish and 2 bags of rice. The primitive ghosts of Jingpo nationality are divided into two kinds: ghosts in the sky and ghosts on the ground. Ghosts in the sky include sun ghosts (that is, "wooden generation"), moon ghosts, star ghosts, wind ghosts, cloud ghosts, reggae ghosts, rain ghosts, lightning ghosts, rainbow ghosts (female) and so on. Ghosts on the ground include plant ghosts (tree ghosts, valley ghosts, leek ghosts, etc. ), animal ghosts (leopard ghosts, old bear ghosts, eagle ghosts, etc. ) such as Shan Gui, water ghost, kitchen ghost, etc. Of all the ghosts, the ghosts of the sun and the earth are the biggest.

The forest is the object of worship of Jingpo people, and there is a sacred forest next to the village. All religious activities related to production are held in Linshen. Linshen is the residence of village protectors and a natural temple, where logging and hunting are not allowed. Water is also the object of worship of Jingpo people. In order to pray for the care of the water god, Jingpo people hold a ceremony to worship the water god every year. Fire is also regarded as sacred by Jingpo people. The fireplace at home is respected by people and no one is allowed to cross it at will.
