Supplement: Bema, also known as Bimo. The Yi people in southern Yunnan are often called "Ma Bei", and Liangshan, northeastern Yunnan, central Yunnan and western Yunnan are generally called "Bimo". Bimo is a transliteration of Yi language. Bi means "chanting Buddha", while Mo means "learned elder". It is a kind of sacrificial teacher who praises, prays and sacrifices for others. Bimo is a "preacher, teacher and puzzle solver" in Yi society, which plays an extremely important role in the inheritance and development of Yi traditional culture. Therefore, their social status is very high. Bimo of Yi people is generally male, most of them are inherited by family, and a few are apprentices. There has also been a female Bimo in legend. In the eyes of the Yi people, Bimo, who has a family heirloom, is better than Bimo, who has no family heirloom. For example, a family heirloom like Bimo must preside over important ancestor worship ceremonies such as requiem and sending spirits. Bimo's main responsibilities in traditional Yi society can be divided into four categories: First, presiding over sacrifices; The second is divination; The third is to collect medicine and treat diseases; The fourth is to preside over the oath and divine judgment.
