Lingbao was the ministry of Liu Zhang in the late Eastern Han Dynasty. In 2 13 (the 18th year of Jian 'an), when Liu Bei captured Yizhou, Liu Zhang sent Lingbao, Liu Y, Zhang Ren and Deng Xian to resist Liu Bei in Fushuiguan, and all four of them were defeated and surrendered to Mianzhu. The deeds since then are not recorded in the official history. Literary image In the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Lingbao appeared in the sixtieth to the sixty-third chapters, and its image is much richer than that in history. Lingbao is described as one of the "Four Generals of Xichuan", a famous soldier under Liu Zhang, with a strong and brave personality. Liu Zhang wanted to invite Liu Bei to Sichuan, but Lingbao and other civil servants and military commanders thought it was not feasible, but Liu Zhang didn't listen. When Wei Yan danced a sword on the table to murder Liu Zhang, Lingbao got up and danced a sword to stop him. 2 13 years (the 18th year of Jian 'an), Liu Bei invaded Yizhou, and Liu Zhang sent 50,000 troops including Lingbao, Liu Y, Zhang Ren and Deng Xian to Shouluo County to attack Liu Bei at night. Lingbao was defeated by Huang Zhong and captured by Wei Yan's ambush. Lingbao fled back on the grounds that other generals surrendered. Later, Lingbao decided to drown Liu Beijun, but his plan was seen through by Peng K with divination, and Liu Bei's military was prepared first. Liu Zhangjun was defeated, Lingbao was captured by Wei Yan, and Liu Bei ordered Lingbao to be executed.
