I. Observatory

The observatory is a place where astronomers observe stars and engage in astronomical research. There are British Royal Greenwich Observatory, American Haier Observatory, American Monaque Observatory, American National Observatory, Japanese Missile Observatory, French Upper Provence Observatory and so on.

Early observatories were not only places for observing stars, but also places for offering sacrifices. Ancient emperors sacrificed to heaven here, and at the same time appointed full-time personnel to observe the astronomical phenomena here, predict good and bad luck, compile almanac and "respect the people". With the development of society, the worship of heaven and the observation of heaven are gradually separated, and the observatory specializing in astronomical observation is gradually independent. Since astronomical observation is closely related to the production activities of ancient agriculture and animal husbandry, astronomical organization has been highly valued in China.

II. Introduction

1, Shanghai Observatory

Shanghai Observatory was established in 1962, which belongs to China Academy of Sciences and consists of Xujiahui and Yushan. Its main research topics are astronomical geodynamics and galactic cosmology. At the same time, we will actively develop modern astronomical research technology and provide various technical support for astronomical observation and research.

2. Shaanxi Observatory

Shaanxi Observatory was established in 1966. Different from other research institutions, as the time service center of China, it is an astronomical research institution focusing on time work. There are a large number of research instruments in the station, mainly engaged in time-related research, such as the relationship between time and latitude, how to synchronize time with high precision and so on. In addition, its other main task is to broadcast time-frequency signals to the whole of China and even the whole world.
