When the elephant told the deer that I was as old as you now, you were exactly half my age.

All trace back to an age difference (the age difference is 1). At this time, the deer is 1 and the elephant is 2.

There are two deer and three elephants now.

And when you reach my age, there will be an age difference. Thus, deer 2+ 1=3, elephant 3+ 1=4.

Each serving: 42÷(3+4)=6 years old.

Now elephant: 6×3= 18 years old; Deer: 6×2= 12 years old.
