Why is Wen Tianxiang a national hero and a patriotic poet?

Unexpectedly, the Southern Song government sent people to seek surrender, and Wen Tianxiang was detained by Yuan soldiers and forced to go north; After that, he fled overnight, organized soldiers and started the war of resistance again. Finally, in Haifeng, Guangdong Province, he was attacked by the Yuan Army, defeated and captured.

Yuan tried to force Wen Tianxiang to write a letter of surrender, but he sternly refused. After the demise of the Song Dynasty, Wen Tianxiang was sent to Yanjing. During his imprisonment, Yuan rulers tortured him in every way, using both soft and hard methods, in an attempt to force him to surrender and cooperate with Yuan people. However, Wen Tianxiang refused to bow his head, and died heroically on December 9th, 19th year of Zhiyuan, thus maintaining national integrity, so he was called a national hero.
