What's the difference between Quanzhen and Zhengyi?

Quanzhen and Zhengyi are two schools of Taoism.

Quanzhen Taoist priests are monks according to the original regulations, and there are four basic requirements: first, not to get married; Second, don't eat meat; Third, you should wear ancient costumes at ordinary times; Fourth, the hair must be tied. They all live in the palace. Quanzhen Taoism, also known as Quanzhen Taoism, is an important school of Taoism in China, which was founded by Wang Zhongyang in Zhong Nanshan, Shaanxi Province at the end of the Northern Song Dynasty and the beginning of the Southern Song Dynasty.

Generally speaking, the doctrine of Quanzhen religion has inherited Zhong Liquan's and Lv Dongbin's Inner Dan thought. Orthodox disciples can get married at home. In real life, many folk laymen who know Taoism belong to the orthodox school, represented by the magical power of Longhu Mountain and Maoshan Mountain.

Zhengyi, headed by Zhang Tianshi, takes Zhengyi as the main classics, and Daoism is mainly scribbling and chanting. Taoist priests usually get married and have children, so they don't have to become monks.

Quanzhen School and Zhengyi School have merged in teaching methods and scientific instruments. Quanzhen religion also uses incantations in their Buddhist scriptures and confessions, and some orthodox Taoists also practice inner alchemy.
