Shui nationality is a minority in China. In fact, many people have never heard of it, but it has a large population. According to the existing census records, the population of the Shui nationality is about 400,000. In fact, there are not many ethnic groups that can produce characters in history. Of the 56 ethnic groups in China, only 17 ethnic groups have their own scripts, such as Manchu, Mongolian and Tibetan, which we are very familiar with. Of course, because some words have lost their practical functions, they can only stay in books, and only some language experts will study them specially. However, some similar Qidan scripts and Xixia scripts have become a kind of extinct language due to the long-term ethnic division.

Perhaps everyone can't imagine that the Shui people actually have their own characters, called Shui Shu.

Speaking of the long history of the Shui people, they originated in the Sui Valley and were in the Shang culture. With the rise and fall of the Central Plains Dynasty, the settlements of the Shui people moved many times. It was not until the Tang Dynasty that the imperial court set up Shuizhou in order to appease the residents of the Sui Dynasty, but the best proof of its cultural heritage should be the Shuishu, which was widely circulated among local people.

When the Shui script appeared is basically unknown now, and it can only be witnessed by local oral songs. Although it is not widely circulated, there are many written records left by Shuishu, except those collected by museums, most of which are circulated among the people, with more than 10 thousand volumes. According to familiar people, these water script words should be about divination and exorcism.

Judging from the image of Shuishu, it should basically be like a human being, because it has the structural characteristics of Chinese characters, but few people basically know it. Only local people who are familiar with Shuishu can recognize it. In early years, there were more than 1000 people who could read water books. As time goes by, these people are getting older and older, and more and more people are dying, leaving only more than 200 people, while young people are working outside.
