Obsidian is a kind of black gem and volcanic crystal, which is very absorbent. Also known as "Dragon Crystal" and "Ten Victory Stones". It is a natural colored glass formed by the sudden cooling of volcanic magma. It belongs to an amorphous gem, and its main component is silicon dioxide (SiO2). It is caused by the rapid cooling and solidification of volcanic lava, so obsidian is usually found around the lava flow. Obsidian is mostly distributed in areas with volcanic activity, such as Hawaii in the United States, Japan, Java Island in Indonesia, Iceland, Hungary, Lipari Islands in Italy, the former Soviet Union, Mexico, Ecuador and Guatemala.

The word "Dragon Crystal" comes from the fantasy novel Fire and Ice and its adaptation of HBO series Game of Thrones. According to the original author, "Dragon Crystal" does exist, and it is a mineral that exists in reality, but its real name is Obsidian.
