The Origin and Legend of Erlang Mountain in Shenmu

2. Legend of Hump Mountain: Erlang Mountain in Shenmu is called Hump Mountain because it looks like a camel's twin peaks. According to legend, a huge camel came to the intersection of Shenmu Qinhe River and Kuye River to drink water because of thirst. As a result, it dried up the river, and finally died of lack of water. The body became Hump Mountain, which is Erlang Mountain.

3. The story of Li Erlang's water management: In another version, it is mentioned that Li Bing's second son, Li Erlang, made great contributions to the management of Dujiangyan, and was honored as the god of water management after his death. Erlang Temple on Erlang Mountain in Shenmu is dedicated to this Erlang.
