Shen Xiaozhan took the Jinshi exam in Qianlong for four years and later became a local official. He constructed a "pattern system" on the study of four pillars, which occupied a very important position in the field of life after the late Qing Dynasty. Zi Ping Zhen Quan is his masterpiece. Xu was one of the three numerologists in the Republic of China (Yu,) and was also called "the joy of the Southern Yuan Dynasty and the Northern Wei Dynasty".
