Mengcun is close to Bohai Sea, and the soil salinization is serious, which is mostly caused by the high salt content and evaporation of groundwater, the uneven surface forming alkali and the high groundwater level. According to the statistics of 1988, there are 87,487 mu of salinized land in the county, mainly distributed in the north and southeast of the county.
