Interpretation of Book of Changes (Thirty-two Guas) —— Heng Gua

Thirty-two, the constant hexagrams are the second and total thirty-two hexagrams in the Book of Changes. This hexagram is a superposition of different hexagrams. The upper divination is earthquake, the earthquake is thunder, the lower divination is Xun, and Xun is wind. From the natural point of view, the wind and thunder are stirring, which makes the universe constantly innovate. From the perspective of social interpretation, earthquake is yang, sorrow is yin, and yang is above yin, just like the eternal law that the monarch is noble and the people are humble, and men are superior to women. A "gentleman" should adhere to this principle and persevere. Therefore, it is called Heng.

"Invariance" means permanence, which refers to the stability, balance and normal order of things. This order is formed in the process of mutual induction between yin and yang. Without the process of change, there is no normal order. If there is no normal order, change will be in a state of chaos and disorder, so the relationship between invariance and movement, invariance and change will form a dialectical unity and maintain the necessary tension.

Eternity is not static, but tends to be stable and balanced in change. Only when things are stable and balanced can things develop permanently and sustainably. For this eternal way, Cohesion Biography has made a comprehensive statement: "The Book of Changes is poor, then it changes, and the change is common, and the general rule is long." Heng Gua, developed from Xian Gua, focuses on the discussion of "change leads to communication" from the perspective of combining Yin and Yang, while Heng Gua focuses on the discussion of "general rule lasts for a long time" from the perspective of stability and balance. The common focus of these two hexagrams is the word "Tong", so the fairy hexagrams are called "Xianheng", which means that the feeling of losing things is prosperous. Constant hexagrams are called "constant", which means that the way of constant can prosper.

The so-called "communication" refers to the communication, two-way interaction, coordination and mutual assistance between the two forces of Yin and Yang, which is not only the ideal state achieved by the natural system and the social system, but also the source of continuous development and change. This theory of prosperity is the surplus of the inherent divination structure. As far as Hengbu is concerned, it is mainly manifested in four aspects. This is what Xun Zhuan said: "When you first got on the job, softness was accompanied by rigidity, and the thunder wind was in harmony with you, combining rigidity with softness."

First, the hexagrams are shaken, and the shock is masculine for the eldest son and feminine for the eldest daughter. When the divinatory symbol is placed at the bottom, it is negative, and the root is positive. "The upper part is soft and the lower part is rigid." It seems that the combination structure of Xian and Heng Gua is different, and the position of rigidity and softness is opposite. To tell the truth, they * * * run through a prosperity principle of flow and two-way interaction. Only when they are sympathetic will they change and seek communication. Young men should actively pursue their eldest daughter in line with the principle of harmony and joy, so that the process of sympathy can proceed smoothly. As soon as the eldest son and the eldest daughter get married and form a family, they should establish a normal order based on the principle of stable balance, with men above women and men outside women inside. Even so, order is born in harmony, sympathy is primary, and the order of men and women is secondary. The so-called eternal way lies in its fundamental spirit, that is, communication can be eternal, and the general principle of energy cannot last long. Therefore, after expounding the order principle of "upper rigidity and lower softness", Heng Gua repeatedly expounded the harmonious principle of "mutual induction" from three aspects.
