The most reliable way to determine whether you have a bent shoulder or a sliding humerus is palpation. Feel the position of humeral head with your fingers under the posterior side of acromion. The clinical standard is that at least one third of the humeral head is in front of the acromion. At this time, you can obviously feel the depression here, but the bones in front of the shoulders are full and prominent.

Note: there is a depression behind the shoulder, not a pit in the muscles behind the shoulder. The depression is caused by the bone moving forward, and the appearance alone is not accurate.

If it is to judge whether it reaches the category of humeral forward slip syndrome, the common method is to see whether the shoulder pain is relieved after the humeral head is reduced. Usually, the pain will be aggravated when lifting shoulders, stretching back and horizontal abduction. Whether internal and external rotation is important depends on the specific type.

There are several pathological conditions related to humeral forward slip syndrome, for example, excessive forward slip may lead to anterior dislocation, and tenderness in front of shoulder and upper arm may be related to tendinitis of biceps brachii.
