At the end of the Western Han Dynasty, Wang Mang usurped political power and the world was in chaos. Farmers all over the country revolted, and heroes sought to conquer the mang.

In the third year of Emperor Xin Mang (AD 22), Liu Xuan, the younger brother of Liu Xiu, Emperor Guangwu of Han Dynasty, joined the Ping Army led by Mu Chen. In a.d. 23, the ministries of Greenwood hero united to defeat Xin Mang's generals Zhen Fu and Liang Qiu, so Liu Xuan was named the general of the new start.

Because it was Liu's imperial clan, he was proclaimed emperor by outlaw in February of the same year. Jianyuan started again, and Liu Xuan resumed the title of Han Dynasty, calling himself Xuanhan Dynasty. At this point, Liu Xiu is just a nominal general under Liu Xuan.

Although Liu Xuan proclaimed himself emperor, his position was not reliable. Not only has follwed been sending troops to beat him, but his generals have not all listened to him. Therefore, Liu Xuan came up with a trick-to unite people by sealing the imperial clan. Liu Xiu has repeatedly made meritorious military service, and is a member of the Liu Xuan family. He was named "Xiao Wang" by Liu Xuan.

When Liu Xiu was named Xiao Wang, he died with another rebellious hero, Wang Lang. Wang Lang is a fortune teller. Seeing that everyone was rebelling, he took a group of imperial clan strongmen, occupied Hebei, made its capital in Handan, and called himself Emperor Han. Liu Xiu and Wang Lang fought in the Hutuo River and Fuyang River in south-central Hebei.

In the war, Liu Xiu gradually gained an advantage. In the autumn of 24 AD, he led troops to attack Wu (now southeast of Shulu County, Hebei Province), Wang Lang, and Qu Shuai of Wang Lang Department surrendered. Liu Xiu named Qu Shuai as a Liehou, but after all, the two sides fought for so many years, and the surrendered soldiers were not very at ease, fearing Liu Xiu's revenge.

Liu Xiuduo is very cunning. He soon learned about the situation. In order to appease the fallen soldiers, he decided to adopt a plan of appeasement. He ordered the dead soldiers to return to their headquarters and take charge of the original military forces, while Liu Xiu rode his horse alone and walked to the camp where the dead soldiers were stationed without bodyguards.

When the soldiers came down, they all gathered around and thought, who is this? Take a closer look, isn't this defeating your own "Xiao Wang"? Why did he visit us alone? Aren't you afraid we'll kill him?

Although everyone was puzzled, this move also let them know that Liu Xiu was not alert to them and regarded them as one of their own, so the soldiers who surrendered were relieved.

The Historical Records of Emperor Guangwu of the later Han Dynasty recorded this incident, and summarized "confide in one's heart" as the idiom "confide in one's heart" to show sincerity in treating others.
