Wang Defeng's Outline of Life Philosophy of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism and My Understanding

Professor Wang Defeng of Fudan University pointed out in a lecture that the infinity of human heart and the finiteness of human existence are contradictory. To solve this conflict, we need a transcendental method, that is, we must have the spirit of being born.

China's Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism each gave a transcendental method, and Professor Wang Defeng summed it up in three sentences, which respectively reflected the core and essential views of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism.

Confucianism emphasizes "inaction", action itself is an end, and behavior itself is an emotional expression from the heart. Confucianism entered the WTO, but especially its own spiritual pursuit was born, just like a religious sense of social responsibility and morality. This sense of responsibility and morality makes Confucianism "must" or "willing" to do something, and when it is done, it realizes "benevolence", for example, it emphasizes "benevolence" instead of the result related to it. Another example is that "heroes are not judged by success or failure", which is actually the embodiment of Confucian values. The hero lies in the fact that some brave behavior embodies "benevolence", not in whether this behavior is a success or a failure.

In such a process of seeking benevolence, Confucianism shows sincerity without hypocrisy, and its inner feelings are consistent with its external actions without forgetting me. Therefore, the difficulty in the real world is the difficulty for Confucianism to achieve results, but it is not the most difficult to find "benevolence". Confucianism can stabilize people's hearts in the real society.

At home, we emphasize "inaction" and reduce human intervention in action. To reduce human intervention is to let nature take its course. Do addition when you get home, such as eating when you are hungry, but don't pursue delicacies, just want to be full. Hungry is natural, and satiety is artificial. Enlightened people do not increase their intervention in reality, but act according to the laws of reality, so they conform to reality without integration, so as to realize their transcendence and settle their hearts.

Buddhists emphasize "doing things unintentionally", which creates new karma. Buddhists just want to do things actively, but they don't stop at the purpose and feeling of things. If they do things to get rid of their own karma, they will not generate new karma. When their karma disappears, people will be freed. Therefore, the realistic predicament will not interfere with the people who study Buddhism, so that the people who study Buddhism will be detached from the display and precipitated in their hearts.

As far as our specific life is concerned, how should we practice it? Professor Wang Defeng gave several examples. For example, he compares himself to. I, Wang Defeng, found that there was a lack of medical care and medicine in a certain area, and was moved by compassion, so I opened a hospital, which was out of my "benevolence" heart. But because of my poor management, I quit behind closed doors, but I attracted capable people to open new hospitals. The whole process, whether the hospital is successful or not, is at least my benevolence's external behavior, and the result is second.

This is the great Confucian spirit driven by the sense of mission, and it is also the concrete embodiment of the entry into the WTO with the spirit of being born.

But my question still exists: how should I choose and follow in our daily life? Professor Wang didn't give an answer. The lecture is very good, but the guidance to students on how to practice does not see Professor Wang's ability. This is probably Professor Wang's self-mockery that he is a person who "eats with his mouth open".

Of course, you can't be harsh with Professor Wang. After all, there are theories that you firmly believe in, and they are integrated into your life and implemented without hindrance. Isn't this the Yangming of Saint Rainbow? Will there be saints in our time?
