The History of Qing Dynasty recorded the death of Yongzheng: "(August) Ding Hai was not prepared. Woods, a general, announced that he would be promoted to Prince Li Hong, the fourth son of the emperor. I am ugly, I am devastated, and I am 58 years old. " That is to say, Yong Zhengdi began to feel unwell on August 21, the 13th year of Yongzheng (the emperor was ill, which was called "unprepared") and died two days later. Yong Zhengdi's sudden death left endless speculation for future generations, whether he died of emergency or murder. However, neither the Draft of the Qing Dynasty nor the Record of Sejong in the Qing Dynasty mentioned the cause of death, and the lack of official history led to different opinions on the cause of death of Yongzheng.

Cause of death: Lv Siniang was murdered. According to folklore, Lv Siniang is a descendant of Lv Liuliang, a master of the East China Sea.

In the sixth year of Yongzheng, Ceng Jing, a scholar from Hunan Province, wrote to Yue Zhongqi, the governor of Sichuan and Shaanxi, urging him to fight against the Qing Dynasty. Yue Zhongqi thinks this matter is serious, and dare not make decisions without authorization, and report the matter to Yong Zhengdi. Unexpectedly, Zhang Xi, as a scholar, refused to tell the truth under the torture of Yue Zhongqi. Yue Zhongqi later released Zhang Xi and praised him as a tough guy, saying that he had long opposed it and was willing to raise the banner of righteousness with him to overthrow the Qing Dynasty and restore the Han nationality.

Zhang Xi believed Yue Zhongqi's words and told her teacher's name and address excitedly. After luring Zhang Xi to confess, Yue Zhongqi immediately arrested Zhang Xi's teacher Ceng Jing and others. Ceng Jing is just a squire who has repeatedly participated in the imperial examinations but failed. He comes from a poor family and usually lives by running a private school in the countryside. Ceng Jing didn't know Lv Liuliang at first, but he always inspired himself with the spirit of "Lv Liuliang didn't work for the Qing court all his life". However, Lv Liuliang is a real genius, while Ceng Jing is just a hypocrite who pursues fame and fortune.

After Ceng Jing was arrested, in order to survive, he put all the blame on Lv Liuliang, who had already died, saying that he was a rural scholar and had never read a few books in his life. It was only after reading a few books by Lv Liuliang that he thought of rebelling against the court.

Later, when Yong Zhengdi summoned the ladies-in-waiting, he disguised himself as a maid-in-waiting, assassinated Yong Zhengdi, and cut off his head to pay homage at the grave of the Lushi family.

Although Lv Siniang's assassination theory is widely circulated, its credibility is not high. First of all, after Ceng Jing and Lv Liuliang were killed, the Qing government supervised them very strictly, so it was impossible for the Lushi family to escape from the net. Even Lv Liuliang and his eldest son Lu Baozhong were stabbed to death in the coffin, the second son was beheaded, and other descendants were sent to Ningguta as armor slaves. How can a woman in Lv Siniang escape? Secondly, Lv Siniang's master, Gan Fengchi, is a real figure in history, and indeed a warrior in the south of the Yangtze River. However, after he was captured by Li Wei, the governor of Zhejiang Province in the seventh year of Yongzheng, he was bent on surrendering to the court. How could he let Lv Siniang enter the palace to assassinate Yongzheng? Third, even if Lv Siniang did escape, how could she leave the Forbidden City after Yong Zhengdi was assassinated? According to Chai Calyx's Brahma Lu Cong Ji, in the ninth year of Yongzheng, Yong Zhengdi was strangled alive by eunuchs Huo Cheng, Wu Shouyi and maids. Huo Cheng and Wu Shouyi are both eunuchs favored by Mei Yinguo. In order to avenge Yin Guo who was forced to death by Yong Zhengdi, they took risks and conspired with the maids to kill Yong Zhengdi.

The records in Brahma's Lu Conglu are mostly anecdotes of Ming and Qing Dynasties, and their credibility is very low. Moreover, Huo Cheng and Wu Shouyi were involved in the cases of Ceng Jing and Lv Liuliang, and they could not stay in the palace for nine years in Yongzheng. Most importantly, it is a historical fact that Yong Zhengdi died in the 13th year of Yongzheng. How could he be strangled in Yongzheng nine years?

Therefore, the cause of Yong Zhengdi's death recorded in Brahma Lu Cong Lu is completely nonsense.

Cause of death 3: Poisoning said that before Yong Zhengdi became emperor, he was very keen on Taoism and had contacts with some Taoists. This is because he is fascinated by Taoist alchemy, hoping to prolong life, even immortality. Alchemy is a basic cultivation method in Taoism, which is mainly made of cinnabar, lead, mercury, sulfur and other minerals. From the fourth year of Yongzheng, Yong Zhengdi began to take Dan medicine and gave it to the prized ministers.

This Dan medicine is dry and fierce, and it is extremely toxic. If you take it for a long time, a lot of toxic substances will accumulate in your body, and it is only a matter of time before the poison dies.

It is these different views that cast a mysterious veil over Yong Zhengdi's death. As for the real cause of Yong Zhengdi's death, perhaps only the passing years will know the truth.
