Tiangong religion

Huang Yun, the founder of Xingtiangong, was born in Quanzhou, and his religious thoughts originated from the popular orthodox religion of Lushan School in Quanzhou. Zhengyi Taoism is a kind of Taoism in Fujian, which combines Lushan method with Taoism and absorbs the secularization of Buddhism. After Zhengyi School came to Taiwan, after a period of blending with Buddhism and Confucianism, it gradually became a "folk belief" in Taiwan Province Province, a "traditional belief and cultural phenomenon of grassroots people, seeking wealth and longevity only for individuals and families".

Folk beliefs in Taiwan Province Province have also been classified as Jainism, Luantang or "Confucianism-Taoism" by some experts, because as far as the content of their beliefs is concerned, most of them explain Confucianism-Confucian ethics education in a one-stop way, which is compatible with the thoughts of sages, buddhas and immortals and emphasizes self-cultivation, housekeeping, good deeds and persuasion. That is, to persuade the world, save people's hearts, and correct social bad habits. Tiangong is one of them: the religious attribute is the folk belief of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, showing a fusion of similarities and differences. This phenomenon not only appears in the Tiangong, but also in many other temples in Taiwan Province Province.

Even so, many fixed religious activities in the Temple of Heaven are still dominated by Taoist rituals. For example, praying for the Dharma (commonly known as worshipping the bucket), offering sacrifices to Chen Yuan, offering sacrifices to the customs, offering sacrifices to the stars, covering the soul, receiving grandchildren and receiving surprises are all closely related to Taoist rituals. In foreign materials about Taiwan Province Province, the folk beliefs of Jaime, Luantang or Taiwan Province Province, which are similar to the "benefactor" beliefs, are also classified as "Taoism".
