Where is the old course of the Yellow River in Siyang?

There is a 63-kilometer-long old course of the Yellow River in Siyang County. The once desolate old course of the Yellow River has now become a veritable forest belt. The forest area is more than 40,000 mu, and millions of Italian poplars soar into the sky. Some tourists call this forest belt "Jiangsu's new green corridor". Comrade Chou He, the vice governor and former secretary of Suqian Municipal Party Committee, once praised Siyang from the air. In the eighth year of Song Taiping and Xingguo (AD 983), the Yellow River seized Huai and entered Si. Starting from today's Suyu County, it flows through Siyang, from northwest to southeast, passes through Yanghe, Zhenglou, Cangji, He Lin, Chengxiang, Zhongxing, Likou and Xinyuan, and winds in the south bank of the Grand Canal. Later, the Huai 'an section of the Grand Canal was silted up, and the north-south water transport had to take the Yellow River, but the wind and waves were sinister and the navigation was inconvenient. In the 25th year of Kangxi, Jin Fu, the river chief, dug "Zhonghe" to reach Qinghe via Suqian and Siyang, avoiding the Yellow River 180 Li dangerous road. Since then, the 3,000-mile Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal has flowed through Zhonghe and traversed Siyang.

For thousands of years, sediment accumulation has made the bed of the Yellow River higher and higher, ending sedimentation and abandonment. The 37-kilometer-long old course of the Yellow River is full of yellow sand and dust, so that "it doesn't rain for three days, and it's full of sand", "it's white in winter and spring, and the wind blows sand, sowing a bowl of seeds in spring and harvesting half a grain in autumn". Later, under the leadership of the party and the government, it gradually put on green clothes and became a spectacular and beautiful scenic line on the land of Siyang. The old course of the Yellow River is as clear as a mirror, with lush water plants, shrubs such as Amorpha fruticosa and Salix psammophila on both sides, and wild flowers and weeds. The whole forest belt is simple and natural, without any traces of decoration, which makes people feel beautiful, quiet and wild. Tourists strolling among them, listening to birds singing in the branches and breathing fresh air are like entering a huge natural oxygen bar, which can't help but make people feel far away from the noise of the world and enjoy the gift of nature.
