Hong Xiuquan is a scholar. Why can he develop and compete with the Qing Dynasty for more than ten years?

Hong Xiuquan is the founder and spiritual leader of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. Faced with many unequal treaties, Hong Xiuquan resolutely refused to recognize the agreements signed by the Qing government with other countries, and at the same time took a hostile attitude towards foreign invaders. During the reign of Hong Xiuquan, the British sent representatives to find Hong Xiuquan, promising that if Hong Xiuquan and others recognized the existence of British colonies, it would give Hong Xiuquan many benefits, but Hong Xiuquan refused without thinking.

The greatest peasant uprising in history, in addition to its natural appearance under the historical background, the development and growth of 14 years also shows the inevitability of this uprising. As the leader of the uprising, Hong Xiuquan was born in cloth and never enjoyed wealth, but he understood a truth from an early age, that is, "the cause of the ancient times is what people do."

1856, Hong Xiuquan held high the banner and led the people to start the 14 uprising. Although the uprising eventually failed because of class problems, this move laid the foundation for the later Revolution of 1911. Sun Yat-sen once commented that Hong Xiuquan was "the first anti-Qing person", which is not unreasonable.

At that time, Hong Xiuquan established a party in Nanjing that opposed the Qing government at that time. This uprising can also be regarded as an anti-imperialist and anti-feudal movement with real value and significance. Perhaps the uprising could have gone further, but no one is perfect. In the following days, Hong Xiuquan did not actively do a good job in coping strategies, and some were greedy for enjoyment, which eventually led to the failure of the uprising.

Today, Hong Xiuquan's former residence has become a patriotic education base in Guangdong Province. Hong Xiuquan's spirit of daring to fight and fight is really worth learning from each of us.
