Lotus is life. For the Buddha, the body is mud and the heart is lotus. Why is the body mud? You might as well study it. Heart is lotus, Buddha is in the heart, compassion is in the heart, and all good and evil are in the heart. But why is there goodness? How does goodness come into being? Why is there evil, and how does it come about? If you don't understand these things, just sit quietly and study hard. Of course, you can get rid of your karma by Buddhist scriptures, but you can't be enlightened. If you don't understand them, even if you study classics all your life, it won't do you any good. Enlightenment is a flower, enlightenment is clarity, enlightenment, Buddha appears, you are Buddha, Buddha is you, can you understand?
