How important is Taian? Why was Taian a real "ghost town" in ancient times?

Haolishan, located in the middle of Lingshan Street in Taicheng, is the ghost capital in China mythology. In addition to the famous ghost town of Du Feng, Tai 'an is also known as the ghost capital, which is closely related to Taishan's belief in treating ghosts. In the traditional culture of China, there are two places of underworld, one is Du Feng in Sichuan, and the other is Li Hao in Tai 'an.

Taishan's view of life and death has a long history. In ancient times, there was a saying that "there is Xi 'an on the top and Tai 'an on the bottom", that is to say, Tai 'an is a "ghost capital". When Xu Shilong, a scholar of Hanlin Jixian in Yuan Dynasty, rebuilt the "Haolishan Temple" in Taishan, he told the history of the underworld of Haolishan. Artemisia was originally the song name of ancient funeral. Tian Heng, the leader of the peasant uprising at the end of Qin Dynasty, established himself as the king of Qi during the struggle between Chu and Han. After the establishment of the Han Dynasty, the regime was devastated. Tian Heng led more than 500 remnant party member to escape to the island. Liu Bang, Emperor Gaozu of Han Dynasty, granted amnesty to the whole world and ordered him to return to Luoyang. Tian Heng refused to submit to Korea, so he committed suicide on his way to Luoyang. In order to pay homage to him, his faithful followers made an elegy for his funeral in Artemisia and committed collective suicide. After the Han Dynasty, people thought that after death, the spirit and soul belonged to Artemisia on Mount Tai, so they built hades on Mount Hao and set up 75 divisions.

Since the pre-Qin period, there has been a saying in history that Mount Tai is in charge of life and death, and Li Hao, located in the south of Mount Tai, is also regarded as a symbol of "the underworld". Li Hao was the Zen position of the ancient emperors, and the "pro-Zen Korea" of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty was recorded in Hanshu in many places. About the Wei and Jin Dynasties, the name "Artemisia" appeared. There used to be a large temple in Haolishan, also called Rosen Hall. There is an old saying: "the soul belongs to Artemisia", which means that when a person dies, the soul will go to Haolishan to be judged by the terrifying, and then it can cross the Naihe Bridge and be reborn.

Even the Red Gate has its own story. The red gate is the dividing line between man and nature. It is said that after death, the whole body is empty, and the mind follows the soul, but the heart is heavy, so the ghost can only dig out his heart and throw it on the red door when he arrives at the red door, so the reason why the red door is so red is because it is stained with blood.

Above the Red Gate, we all know that it is heaven and the place where immortals live. The urban area under Mount Tai is also divided into two by Naihe River. To the east of the Alternative River, there is a world, with Dai Temple in the middle, which is the palace of Ren Huang. On the west side of the river, it is hell. That is, the ghost house was once called the underworld.

There is a reservoir in Tai 'an called Huang Qian Reservoir, unlike Huangqian. In fact, it used to be called the yellow front, but it was later renamed.

At the beginning, the bend of the Taishan Bridge was straightened. It is said that it was bent after nine times and didn't straighten, so the Yellow River in Jiuqu leads to Youzhou.

From Daizongfang Arch archway to Tianmen, Mount Tai set out from "man" to "ascension", climbed more than 6,000 steps, crossed the Zhongtianmen and reached the "heaven" of the Nantianmen. Below the Nantianmen, to the east of Naihe River, including half of Taicheng East, it belongs to the bustling "human world", with Tian Tong Street, Daimiao and Daizongfang Arch Archway as the central axis, which is symmetrical left and right and neatly arranged; Taicheng is west and south of Naihe River, with Naihe Bridge and Lihaoshan as the main areas, belonging to the legendary "underworld".

Li Hao is the capital of hell in Tai 'an. It is located in the present Tai 'an Railway Station and the old bus station. It is a steamed stuffed bun-shaped mountain bag with an altitude of only 1.98 meters. The mountain is dense with pine and cypress, which completely surrounds the whole mountain package. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), it was once called Hero Mountain.
