Why do some people say that the gold necklace is a dog chain?

Some dogs will be chained by their owners, and some people will be called dog chains when they wear a thicker gold necklace, because it is a curse to be thicker near the dog chain! Scold those who show off with thick chains for not knowing gold ornaments! I only know how to show off my wealth, but I have no taste in plain English!
