It is said that in the Han Dynasty, it was the emperor's manor, with a scene of ancient manor, merchants gathered, docks and ferries like forests, and it was very lively; Archaeologists have discovered many ancient tombs of the Han Dynasty, including two hundreds of acres of underground tombs of the Han Dynasty and articles for daily use made of stone or pottery. Libukou Central Township was founded in 1958, and was changed to Libukou Commune in the same year, and 1984 was changed to township organizational system;

1984 10.6, Mairendian, Zhengwa, Zhaozhai, Dakanglou, Yangjingyan, Xuzhuang, Danzhuang and Aiying in Libukou Township are under the jurisdiction of Zhoukou City (now Chuanhui District);

In February 2008, the township sub-district offices in Chuanhui District were adjusted. After adjustment, it has jurisdiction over 12 sub-district offices and 1 township: Chengnan Office, Wenchang Office, Renhe Sub-district Office, Qiyi Road Office, Jinhai Road Office, Hehua Road Office, Chengbei Office, Zhouchenhui Office, tahoe Road Office, Huaihe Road Office, Xiaoqiao Sub-district Office, Bankou Office and Libukou Office. The four village committees of Nanxu, Tan Yao, Liu Xinzhuang and Niutan in Libukou Township were placed under the Huaihe Road Office.

On July 22, 20 13, the whole system of Libukou Township was handed over to Zhoukou Port Logistics Industry Cluster (Zhoukou Port for short), and before that, some of it was handed over to Zhoukou Port Logistics Industry Cluster for management.
