According to legend, in the early years, the vegetation in the upper reaches of Baihe River was dense, and most of the banks were virgin forests. Because there was no road at that time, all the wood had to drift down from the Baihe River. One year, a businessman bought a batch of wood and hired a father and son to carry it out on a raft. When the raft came to a cliff, he suddenly heard someone calling the names of the father and son on the shore. They parked the raft on the shore, but they didn't see the caller. They were surprised when they heard a loud noise behind them. When the father and son looked back, the long raft row disappeared, and the cliff behind them collapsed, smashing the whole raft row below. The father and son realized that the crying just now saved their lives, so they looked up to heaven and thanked the gods for their help.

The wood fell to the foot of the mountain and the businessman lost his money. He asked a fortune teller to calculate a divination for him. The fortune teller said that he had a collision with the river god. If he wanted to dig out the wood, he had to pay tribute to the river god and promised to sing a big drama. The merchant agreed, burning incense on the shore to pray to the river god, setting up a stage on the other side of the collapsed mountain, organizing manpower to dig firewood, and preparing to sacrifice to the river god to sing opera. At the beginning, the wood was dug smoothly, and the merchants forgot the benefits and did not pay attention to offering sacrifices to the gods. In order to save money, he bought a pig from nearby, washed it and gave it to the river god. On the day of singing opera, the businessman invited a "grass troupe" instead of a formal troupe to make up and sing opera by himself. The words of the opera were also improvised by himself: "I performed a big play, but there were not many people;" I promised a fat pig a bite, not an old pig or a little pig. " The river god was teased by the businessman and flew into a rage. At night, the cliff collapsed again. This time, the merchant can't get the wood anymore.

Later, a small village was formed in the place where the mountain collapsed, called "Bengshan", separated by a river, and the place where the opera was played was called "Xu". The names of these two villages have been handed down to this day.
