Zhanjiang Bay Bridge?

Zhanjiang Bay Bridge is the largest bridge project in our province after Humen Bridge. The whole line includes 398 1 m bridge and 2 1 km first-class highway, with a total investment of about 654.380+0.22 billion yuan. The bridge type is a hybrid beam cable-stayed bridge with twin towers and double cable planes, which is one of the science and technology demonstration projects of Guangdong Provincial Communications Department. The project starts from Huang Po Town, Wuchuan City in the east, passes through Potou District, Zhanjiang City, crosses the bay at the upstream of Pingle Ferry 1.3km, and connects with Leshan Avenue, Zhanjiang Development Zone. Among them, the water surface of the bay where the bridge is located is about 2.5 kilometers wide and the maximum water depth is 25 meters. The clear width of navigation is 400 meters and the clear height is 48 meters. The bridge is 25 meters wide and is a four-lane first-class highway. The project officially started on July 30, 2003 and will be completed and opened to traffic on February 28 this year. A 50,000-ton cargo ship can pass under the bridge.

After the completion of Zhanjiang Bay Bridge, the mileage from Hainan Province and Leizhou Peninsula to the Pearl River Delta will be shortened by 40 kilometers, which is of great significance for improving Zhanjiang highway network, promoting the economic ties between Leizhou Peninsula and the developed areas of the Pearl River Delta, and even smoothing the circulation of materials in the southwest. At the same time, the bridge will transform Zhanjiang's zonal development from north to south into a balanced development of east, west, north and south, and the overall urban pattern will be fundamentally improved.
