What does filial piety mean?

Filial piety means: the heaviest filial piety in ancient times, such as the filial clothes worn by children for their parents.

When parents die, children mourn for their parents and put on mourning clothes. This is the so-called filial piety. However, in the traditional culture of China, filial piety does not only mean mourning for parents. In ancient times, waiting on the emperor, the courtiers were kings, the wives were husbands and the eldest sons were ancestors, all of which were called heavy mourning.

Taboo of filial piety:

First of all, the most taboo place of filial piety is a particularly lively and festive place, not only because it can't be integrated into the joyful and festive atmosphere, but also because it is disrespectful to the deceased to participate in lively activities soon after the death of important relatives.

Secondly, although the custom of honoring parents has been simplified, it is best not to post Spring Festival couplets for three years, not to shoot guns, not to go out to pay New Year greetings for three years, and pay attention to wearing white shoes 100 days, during which children are not allowed to have their hair cut and not to wear red clothes for three years.
