The Human History of Li Ji Town

Li Ji, formerly known as Shangzha, was founded in the Spring and Autumn Period and belonged to Lu 'an State in Qin and Han Dynasties. Sui, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing belong to Gushi County. In the seventh year of Chongzhen in Ming Dynasty (1634), Li Ji was founded. In the second year of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty (1645), Li Jibao was established and Xianfeng established "Ganzong" and "Garrison". There are "Huguang Guild Hall" and "Shanxi Guild Hall" in history. Li Ji Town has a long history and many historical sites:

Jixi is the former site of Daiwang Temple, a Buddhist holy place, located on the east bank of Shihe River, with dangerous terrain.

To the east of Daiwang Temple is the mouth of the canal opened by Sun Shuai, the prime minister of Chu in the Spring and Autumn Period, who "decided to fill the field with water".

Wen ancient city is located on the east bank of Shihe River, 7 kilometers north of Hebei Province. Because of its surname, it lives in the ruins of the ancient city (Qiu Wen, a scholar in the Ming Dynasty, was the birthplace of Governor Ji Liao), hence the name. Built in the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the ancient city is the former site of Anfeng County. It is rectangular, 400 meters long, 200 meters wide and 2.5 meters above the ground. Unearthed cultural relics include: stone axe, stone pick, stone spoon, stone bowl, copper edge and tripod.

Wolong site is located 7 kilometers north of Hebei, with a width of 100 m from east to west and a length of 130 m from north to south. Archaeological findings show that there are traces of ash pits, and pottery fragments such as tripod feet, pottery sculptures and pots have been unearthed, which have been identified as Longshan-Western Zhou cultural sites.

Longgong Temple was built in Han Dynasty, 5 kilometers southeast of Jidong, on the east bank of the lake. It flourished from the Tang Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty and was destroyed in the late Qing Dynasty. Many remnants were buried in the ruins, and Han bricks were unearthed.

Mawang Temple, 8 kilometers southwest of Ji, was built in the Tang Dynasty. It has six halls and six wings on two floors. All previous dynasties flourished and were destroyed in the turmoil of the Cultural Revolution. There are two cypress trees in front of the original temple, which are 160cm thick and about 1000 years old, and there is also a monk tower.

Longtan Temple, located 7 kilometers north of Jibei, was built in Qing Dynasty and destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. There is an ancient monument with written records on it.

"Golden basin shines on the moon" is located 6 kilometers south of Jinan, covering an area of 1 mu. The terrain is basin-shaped, with a century-old tree and long-standing stagnant water. Whenever the moon rises at night, you can see the shadow of the moon reflected in a pool of blue trees, which is beautiful, hence the name;

Egret Island, 7 kilometers north of Jibei, covers an area of 5 mu, surrounded by water, with lush bamboo and wood, and nearly 1,000 birds such as egrets. In addition, Li Ji Town is also the birthplace of Ding Feng, a famous player in the late period of Wu Dong in the Three Kingdoms.

Li Ji Town was once a part of the Soviet area in Hubei, Henan and Anhui, and it has a glorious revolutionary history. During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, Soviet governments in the east and west areas of Gushi County established Soviet governments in the second area and ten townships of Huoqiu County in the Dianjiaolou, 7 km northeast of Hebei Province, Chenlingzi, a tea shed 12 km southeast of Hebei Province, and Chenjiaci, Changxing in southeast of Hebei Province. Soviet governments set up Red Guards Battalion, Women's Federation, Children's League and other organizations, organized Red Army guerrillas and Red Guards, and dealt a heavy blow to local reactionary forces. 193 1 year, the 12th division of the Red Army fought, and with the strong cooperation of the people, it annihilated the Kuomintang army, seized a large number of weapons and ammunition, and captured more than 500 enemy troops.

Li Ji's human history can be traced back to the Spring and Autumn Period. Since the market town was formed in the Ming Dynasty, with the advantages of Shihe shipping and land transportation, it has gathered merchants from all directions and enjoyed the title of "One Li" (the most prosperous water transportation center in ancient Gushi, "One Li, Two Rivers and Three Rivers" and Three Rivers). Residents are used to living in water ponds, planting trees and bamboos beside houses, and raising geese, ducks, water chestnuts and lotus roots. The territory is simple, cheerful and hospitable. Both men and women like to sing folk songs and yangko. When they get married and have children to build a house, they like to sing drum books, play shadow play and cough play. During festivals, they like to run dry boats, run donkeys, walk on stilts and jump mussels. In the first month and March of the lunar calendar, there is a custom of catching up with the old temple fair and the Matang temple fair.
