As we all know, the Tang Priest in The Journey to the West is the second disciple of the Tathagata, named Jin Chan, and he is a fairy on Lingshan Mountain.

One day, the Tathagata was sitting on the lotus platform lecturing, and all the buddhas and bodhisattvas were sitting around him. When everyone was listening to Buddhism seriously, suddenly there was snoring. With the sound, everyone looked up and saw the golden cicada swaying from side to side, "nodding", and the saliva was almost flowing out.

As soon as the Buddha called, the cicada suddenly woke up, looked around and found that everyone was looking at herself. I saw some arhats smiling at myself, some bodhisattvas licking their mouths, some buddhas shaking their heads and sighing, and the golden cicada knew that she was miserable.

Sure enough, the golden cicada fell into the terrible mold, was banished to the mortal world by the Buddha, and was reborn as a mortal. It took ten mortals to return to Lingshan. In the tenth century, the golden cicada was reincarnated as Xuanzang, and was destined to go to the Western Heaven to learn from the scriptures. The Buddha wanted to add some difficulty factors to the golden cicada, so he couldn't take advantage of it in vain, so he sent people everywhere to publicize that Xuanzang was the reincarnation of the golden cicada, and his flesh would live forever. Now Jin Chan has become a celebrity among monsters, and monsters have caught him everywhere, laying many obstacles for him to learn from the scriptures.

Then, there was the story of Xuanzang's westward journey.

Jin Chan is the second disciple of the Tathagata, so who is the big disciple?

In The Journey to the West, Mr. Wu Cheng'en didn't say who his big disciple was, which left a lot of room for later scholars to study The Journey to the West.

The mainstream view is the Monkey King. Bodhi, Bodhi, Bodhi, Bodhi, Bodhi Tree, Bodhi Tree, Bodhi Tree, Bodhi Tree, Bodhi Tree, Bodhi Tree, Bodhi Tree, Bodhi Tree, Bodhi Tree, Bodhi Tree, Bodhi Tree, Bodhi Tree, Bodhi, Bodhi, Bodhi, Bodhi, Bodhi, Bodhi, Bodhi, Bodhi, Bodhi This true color should refer to the identity of a big disciple.

But this statement is not reliable, just a guess of future generations.

In Buddhism, the true Tathagata disciple is called Ye Jiazun.

Ye Jia, whose full name is Mahakaya, was born in Wangshe City, the capital of Maharaja, during the Indian Buddha's time. He is a Brahmin caste and an out-and-out Indian aristocrat.

Like Sakyamuni (Tathagata), he was born under a tree, so his real name is Biboroyana, which means born under a tree.

His father is a man who runs out of resources, and his wealth is comparable to the monopoly of the king. From an early age, Dayejia was taken good care of by a group of servants around her, and there were not many playmates. His father gave him a very good education when he was a little older. Soon, he was proficient in sacrificial rites, calligraphy and painting, arithmetic, literature, astronomy, divination, meteorology, music and dance.

When she grew up, her parents forced Ye Jia to marry a beautiful woman, Miaoxian. Dayejia doesn't want to be close to women, but only wants to practice hard by herself. Miaoxian is also devoted to practice and doesn't like men and women. So they lived alone and spent twelve years in different beds.

After his parents died, Da Ye Jia became a monk. Before leaving, he told Miaoxian that he would come back to pick her up for an internship when he found a real normal school.

After practicing under Sakyamuni for three or four years, Sakyamuni remembered his agreement with his wife Miaoxian. He learned that his wife joined the naked heresy after she couldn't wait for him to come back. Sakyamuni hurried to pick up his wife, asked her to join Sakyamuni Sect, and asked the Buddha to allow him to give her half of the food every day.

Unfortunately, however, Ye Jia's behavior was misunderstood by people around him, saying that the news that he was close to womanhood spread like wildfire, causing everyone's discussion. After listening to this, Dayejia broke up with Miaoxian in order to encourage her to practice hard.

The relationship between the two ended.

Later, Dayejia gained the status of a saint through hard practice, and often preached everywhere to help the poor. As the days passed, Sakyamuni died. Before nirvana, Sakyamuni appointed Sakyamuni as the heir of the Buddha.

Dayejia inherited the mantle of Buddha, lived up to Master's entrustment, compiled and sorted out the scriptures, and successfully promoted Buddhism and Taoism.

Throughout Ye Jia's life, he didn't covet fame and wealth, didn't covet women, and was well-off but didn't covet enjoyment. Instead, he painstakingly practiced the right path and worked hard for the development of Buddhism all his life despite his old age and infirmity. This spirit is really admirable.

In The Journey to the West, after Tang Priest and his party came to Leiyin Temple, Ye Jia wanted Tang Priest to exchange valuable treasures before he was willing to learn from him. In the novel, Wu Cheng'en portrayed Ye Jia as a greedy warmonger.

But in fact, Ye Jia is a saint, an important figure in Buddhism, and abstinence, even his own property can be abandoned for practice, how can he blackmail the Tang Priest for a little treasure? This description is obviously not in line with the real Ye Jia.
