The Origin and Legend of Tiger Leaping Gorge

1, the first legend: It is said that Master Mu, the ruler of Lijiang at that time, was extremely rich and there were many talents around him. One of them can tell a fortune. One day, I calculated it for Master Mu. It is said that Master Mu was rich when he was born, but there was no coffin available after his death. Master Mu was frightened. From then on, wherever he went, he put a coffin every ten miles to fight against his fate. One day, the weather was fine and Master Mu was in a good mood, so he rode his mount, the tiger, along the Jinsha River. The river is surging and picturesque. When the tiger came to a narrow reach, he jumped on a big stone in the middle of the river. The tiger went ashore, but people never went ashore with the tiger at the same time, but fell into the rolling river. Time has passed, Master Mu and his tiger have long been lost, but they have left imaginative names such as Tiger Leaping Gorge and Tiger Leaping Stone to future generations.

2. The second legend: It is said that the tiger jumped over a river less than 30 meters wide, and there was a huge stone in the middle of the river. Once, a tiger chased by a hunter fled to the river, jumped on the boulder in the river, and then jumped on the other side with one little foot. Therefore, the boulder in the river is called Tiger Leaping Stone, and this canyon is also called Tiger Leaping Gorge.

Tiger Leaping Gorge is located in Tiger Leaping Gorge Town, Shangri-La City, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China, in the Jinsha River section between Yulong Snow Mountain and Haba Snow Mountain. It is one of the deepest canyons in China and a national AAAA tourist attraction.
