Brief introduction of Baiyun Temple

Baiyun Temple is the seat of Shanghai Taoist Association and Taoist Culture Research Center. In the late Qing Dynasty, Xu Zhicheng, a Taoist priest in Jiading, built Leizutang in Dongxing Bridge. In the eighth year of Guangxu (AD 1882), Leizu Hall was moved to its present site. Xu Zhicheng invited more than 8,000 volumes. From 0755 to 79,000 years later, Leizu Temple was renamed "Baiyun Temple on the Sea". Baiyun Temple is the largest Taoist temple in Shanghai. Now some buildings have been preserved: Gong Ling Palace, Lingxiao Golden Hall, Laojun Hall and Leizu Hall. Among them, there are 7 bronze statues of the Ming Dynasty, which have never been seen by other Taoist temples in China. The Ming edition collection of Guan Bao in Baiyun Temple Town has been moved to Shanghai Library for collection.
