The first widespread scam was burning books to bury Confucianism, which was one of the representatives of Qin Shihuang's tyranny and the beginning of literary inquisition in China's history. Many people think that the so-called "burning books to bury Confucianism" means burning books to bury Confucianism. However, this is not the case. Sima Qian recorded Qin Shihuang's behavior in Historical Records as follows: "By the end of Qin Dynasty, poetry and books were burned and six arts were lost."

It can be seen that Qin Shihuang did not kill Confucian scholars. Confucian scholars mean scholars, but mainly kill warlocks. The so-called warlock refers to people who are engaged in fortune telling and reading. At the end of the Western Han Dynasty, the preface to Kong Anguo's Shangshu said: "Qin Shihuang destroyed the ancient scriptures, burned books and buried Confucianism, and all the scholars fled and dissolved." That's why there is a saying that books are burned to bury Confucianism. Actually, Qin Shihuang didn't kill a scholar.

The second widespread scam is that Fang Xiaoru was killed by the top ten clansmen. Everyone should be familiar with it. He was a famous Confucian scholar in Ming Dynasty, not only brilliant, but also strong in backbone. After Judy drove away his emperor Wen Jian, he asked Fang Xiaoru to write a letter to announce it to the world. However, instead of listening to Judy, Fang Xiaoru called him an anti-thief. As a result, Judy was furious and killed ten people in Fang Xiaoru, even his relatives, friends and classmates, but this was not the case.

Generally speaking, the heaviest punishment in ancient times was the extermination of the nine clans, and there are many terms for the so-called "nine clans", including "great-grandfather, great-grandfather, father, son, grandson, great-grandson and great-grandson" and other "four fathers, three mothers and two wives", but all of them are their own relatives, and there are ten of them.

The earliest record of Fang Xiaoru's Ten Clans Punishment comes from Zhu Zhishan's Ye Ji, one of the four great talents in Ming Dynasty, but this book has been recognized as unofficial history. Fang Xiaoru said, "What if the top ten clansmen punish you?" The words were also recorded from this field. According to the official history and Biography of Fang Xiaoru in the Ming Dynasty, "Ding Chou killed Qi Tai, Huang Zicheng and Fang Xiaoru and sent them home." There is no record of Fang Xiaoru's extermination of ten ethnic groups.
