What is the process for children to take their grandmother's surname?

Legal analysis: children can take their grandmother's surname. According to the latest regulations in China, children can go to the local public security window with their parents or grandparents to consult their surnames and register their names.

Legal basis: Article 10 15 of the Civil Code of People's Republic of China (PRC) stipulates that a natural person should take his father's surname or his mother's surname, but in any of the following circumstances, he may choose a surname other than his father's surname or his mother's surname:

(a) Choose the surnames of other immediate elders;

(2) Choosing the surname of the supporter because of the support of a person other than the legal supporter;

(three) there are other legitimate reasons that do not violate public order and good customs.

The surnames of natural persons of ethnic minorities can follow their own cultural traditions and customs.
