"Apply Image" command and "Calculate" command in PS?

Using the Apply Image command (in single and composite channels) and the Calculate command (in a single channel), you can make the blending effect associated with layers combine the channels inside and between images into a new image. These commands provide two additional blending modes-Add and Subtract, which are not available in the Layers panel.
