Mr. Wang tells the fortune of the puppet troops.

War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, north and south, the people, old and young, have the responsibility to defend the country in the war of resistance. A group of orphans picked up guns and hit the Japanese, killing the puppet troops for 200 days, and finally they all died heroically. After more than 80 years, their only photo was found, and their deeds made people cry.

Who are they? They are volunteers for orphans in Jinling.

Nanjing laochengmen

At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, there was a small red mountain 3 kilometers away from Heping Gate in Nanjing. There is a century-old temple called Jiashan Temple on Panlong Mountain at the northern foot of Xiaohongshan Mountain. Jiashan Temple is located in the deep mountains, where few people worship Buddha, which coincides with troubled times. So the ancient temple is in ruins, leaving only a few meditation rooms and halls for people to live in.

I don't know when an old nun and two young nuns came to the mountain, and the three of them have settled here ever since. After the Revolution of 1911, old nuns adopted orphans of revolutionary heroes one after another, and old nuns adopted more than 60 orphans one after another. Orphans treat old nuns as grandmothers and call them teachers, while young nuns call them grandmothers.

1927, Mr. Tao Xingzhi, a famous educator, founded Xiaozhuang Normal School in the suburbs of Nanjing. When Tao Xingzhi learned that there were orphans on the mountain, he often went up the mountain to deliver meals to orphans and often let his children go to school. Under the education of Tao Xingzhi, these children not only learned cultural knowledge, but also understood national feelings and national spirit.

After the Lugouqiao Incident broke out, the all-round war of resistance officially started. In order to expose the ugly face of the Japanese aggressors, we call on the people of China to rise up and expel the Japanese aggressors and defend the country. The orphans of Jiashan Temple took to the streets one after another, actively propagating their anti-Japanese ideas and striving to save the country.

1In August, 937, at the initiative of the monitor Zhong Hua, the orphans of Jiashan Temple organized all 65 orphans and set up the "Jinling Orphan Volunteers". The establishment of Jinling Orphan Volunteers is to take up guns and go to the front to fight the devil to the death, just like the Northeast Anti-Japanese Volunteers.

In September of the same year, three orphans 15 years old followed the local garrison to Shanghai to participate in the Battle of Songhu. The battle between Songhu and Shanghai lasted for several months, and the Japanese army suffered huge losses, but in the end Shanghai fell. After the fall of Shanghai, three orphans followed the troops to participate in the Nanjing Defence War. In the battle to defend the Purple Mountain, the three girls were brave and unyielding, and finally they all died heroically.

In the battle of Nanking, the orphans Qu Ge, Shi Qing and Zheng Xing all took part in the defense of Guanghuamen. Fortunately, when the Japanese army occupied Nanjing, they evacuated their positions in time. Five girls who participated in the battlefield rescue failed to retreat in time when rescuing the wounded in the position of Beigushan, and all of them were killed by the Japanese army.

The monitor Zhong Hua and Lei Yue, two orphans, were captured when they retreated to Shimonoseki, where they were massacred by the Japanese army. When the Japanese army strafed the prisoners with machine guns, Lei Yue, who had been injured, pushed Zhong Hua down and held him down with his own body. Zhong Hua therefore dodged a bullet, climbed out of the dead pile in the middle of the night and fled back to Jiashan Temple.

Anti-Japanese boy scouts

1in the spring of 938, the Japanese army built a large number of military warehouses under Gubei Mountain. Zhong Hua led Kym, a volunteer soldier, and others into the warehouse and got more than 50 rifles, machine guns, grenades and explosives from the Japanese warehouse. Armed with weapons, Zhong Hua immediately armed the volunteers. They used these weapons to ambush lone Japanese soldiers and attack scattered positions in two dog. In just one year, the volunteers killed more than 20 Japanese troops and more than 50 puppet troops.

The action of the volunteers made the devils nervous, so the devils carried out an extremely cruel sweep. During the sweeping, many orphans were captured, but they gritted their teeth and refused to disclose any information. Many people died under the torture of the Japanese army. Seeing that it was not possible, the Japanese army adopted the method of puppet troops and sent meticulous work into the volunteers. Because Zhong Hua and others had flaws in the examination of recruiting members, the Japanese army succeeded in its plot, and its whereabouts and battle plan were learned by the Japanese army.

Japanese army mopping up

1939 10, the puppet troops concentrated more than 500 people to encircle the Xiaohongshan Orphan Volunteers. Orphan volunteers were surrounded by devils on the hill, and Zhong Hua led all his brothers to fight fiercely with the devils, repelling the repeated attacks of the Japanese puppet troops. Fighting until the evening, because we were outnumbered, we had to retreat to the cave where the arms were stored.

Zhong Hua and others didn't want to be prisoners, so they detonated the explosives stored in the cave when the Japanese puppet troops poured into the cave. A violent serial explosion sounded, and the whole top of Xiaohongshan Mountain was blown to pieces. The Japanese puppet troops suffered heavy casualties, and all the volunteers died heroically.

Jinling Orphan Volunteers was founded on July 8, 1937/KLOC-0, and died heroically in Xiaohongshan in June, 1939. It fought with Japan for more than two years, killing more than 200 Japanese puppet troops and burning countless Japanese warehouses and military vehicles. Their average age at death was only 16 years old, and the average age of 20 girls was only 15 years old.

The only photo of a volunteer

Jinling orphan volunteers, they don't belong to any organization, they are spontaneous anti-Japanese groups. So for more than 80 years, their heroic deeds are little known. More than 80 years later, their only photo was found. That's a photo of a volunteer orphan walking through the Yuhuatai. Unfortunately, I am too old to see the people in the photos, let alone know them.

Brief report on excavation of Jiashan Temple site

Postscript: Jinling Orphan Volunteers, a little-known anti-Japanese team, was 20 years old at the time of death, and the youngest was 14 years old. Their sacrifice and fighting spirit are worth learning and remembering by future generations.
