Weng's former residence is located in Wengjia Lane, Changshu Ancient City. This house was built between Hongzhi and Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty, and was bought by Weng Xincun, the father of Emperor Weng Tonghe of the two dynasties and a great scholar of Tijen Pavilion, in the 13th year of Daoguang (1833) as a place to support his mother. Weng Tonghe spent his adolescence here. This house has a history of more than 500 years, and it is the best preserved official residence of Ming and Qing dynasties in Jiangnan area I have ever seen.
