? Extraction code: tk08? Red Sorghum is a war literary film produced by Xi 'an Film Studio, directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Jiang Wen, Gong Li and Teng Rujun. It was released in China on 1987. The film is adapted from Mo Yan's novel of the same name. The story took place in Gaomi, Shandong Province during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period. It tells the story of the hero and heroine who run a sorghum winery together after twists and turns. However, during the Japanese invasion of China, both the heroine and the winery employees were killed by the Japanese because they participated in the resistance movement. 1988, the film won the Golden Bear Award at the 38th Berlin International Film Festival, becoming the first Asian film to win this honor.
