Jize is the name of Zehe recorded in Shan Hai Jing. The Classic of Mountains and Seas was written from the Warring States to the early Han Dynasty, and it is also called the three great ancient books together with the Book of Changes and Huangdi Neijing.

Shan Hai Jing contains many contents such as ancient geography, history, mythology, astronomy, animals, plants, medicine, religion, anthropology, ethnology, oceanography and history of science and technology. It is an encyclopedia of ancient social life.

Among the northerners, there are mainly Qin people's creation theory and Luoyang people's creation theory in the Central Plains. However, Zheng Dekun and Nana Ogawa Zhuo Zhi, a Japanese scholar, think that Shan Jing mostly describes the mountains, rivers and minerals in the Central Plains, thus drawing the view that Luoyang people created their world in the Central Plains. Among the theories of southerners, there are mainly the theories of Bashu people and Chu people. Lv Zifang and Meng are representatives of Bashu.
