Nanxun has a history of more than 740 years since it was founded in the Spring Festival of the Southern Song Dynasty (1252). The economic prosperity of Nanxun was from the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty to the middle of Qing Dynasty.

In the third year of the Northern Song Dynasty (978), the area 57 miles east of Nanxun was assigned to Pingjiang (Suzhou) Town, which became the gateway to the east of Huzhou. At the end of Yuan Dynasty, in the sixteenth year of Zheng Zhi (1356), Zhang Shicheng built a city in Nanxun. In the second year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1369), Suzhou City was demolished. At the end of Ming Dynasty, Pan Erkui wrote in Xunxi Literature: "Thousands of fireworks; The water is flowing and the ship is sailing. Although Xing Wu is in the East, it is an important town in Jiangsu and Zhejiang. The saying that "fireworks are everywhere" has been recorded in the historical books of Kangxi, Qianlong and Daoguang from the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty.
