Introduction of Longju Temple

At the entrance of Longju Temple, there is an inscription of "Longju Ancient Temple". According to the inscription in the statute of Longju Temple on Jinjiang River in Wuhou in the first year of Qing Daoguang (182 1), "Longju Ancient Temple is Baiyun Mazu Dojo, which was founded as Hongwu Bingyin (1386), but it has been supplemented since then, and the names of the donated temples are recorded."

Mazu is a Buddhist Zen master named Ma Ming Dow Yi, a monk from Shifang, Hangzhou. There is still a statue of Mazu in the temple, and there is also a deeply embossed column base carved in stone, which is said to be a relic of the Tang Dynasty. Mazu became a monk in Shifang Luohan Temple and came here to do Dojo. It was 1200 years ago in the middle of the Tang Dynasty, and it took more than 600 years for Ming Hongwu Bingyin to build a Buddhist temple on this basis.

After several large-scale additions and repairs, temple architecture has begun to take shape in the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty. The whole temple covers an area of more than 40 acres, and the hall is spacious and magnificent. The garden is towering and lush, with eight-character powder walls and rows of cypresses outside the mountain gate.

The temples are more solemn and elegant under the shade of green trees, especially the archway buildings in the middle hall and the murals in the Ming Dynasty, which have high historical and artistic value. They are painted with Twelve Round Feelings, Seventy-two Monks and their providers, with clever brushwork and lines covered with gold powder.
