Shangcheng County, which belongs to Xinyang City, Henan Province, is located in the southeast corner of Henan Province and at the northern foot of Dabie Mountain. The county covers a total area of 2 130 square kilometers, and governs 2 streets, 10 towns and 7 townships.

Shangcheng County is connected to Guangshan County and Xinxian County in the west and Huangchuan and Gushi in the north. With Chicheng Sub-district Office as the center, it is 208km away from Hefei, Anhui Province, 234km away from Wuhan, Hubei Province, Xinyang 165km away from Zhengzhou, Hubei Province, and 467km away from it.
