History of Datao Village in Wuzhi County

The legend of Tao village

30 miles west of Wuzhi County, on the south bank of Qinhe River, there is a village of more than 2,000 people called Taocun. There are more than 0/600 Taos in the village/Kloc-divided into two ancestral halls, of which there are more than 700 XiAncestral Hall. According to genealogy, they immigrated here from Hongdong County, Shanxi Province in the early Ming Dynasty. There are more than 800 people in the East Ancestral Hall, claiming to be the indigenous people in the village. According to legend, Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, was afraid that the descendants of Yong Dong would leave the court. In order to cut off Long Mai, he ordered Yong Dong's descendants in Dadong Village to dig graves and exterminate their families. To the south of Dadong Village is Taocun Village, and the two villages are next to each other. The soldiers who killed the red eye did not ask indiscriminately, but also carried out a bloody wash on the people in Taocun, killing a chicken and a dog, leaving only a seven-or eight-year-old child to hide under the millstone. He looked out through the cracks in the fence, and the streets were full of bodies bleeding like rivers. He was so scared that he closed his eyes and fainted. I don't know how long it took. When he woke up, he found that there was no sound. He felt hungry and thirsty. So he got the nerve to climb out and found that the blood wash was over, and he was lucky to get his life back. The child's surname was not Tao. In order to mix with Tao, an immigrant from Hongdong, Shanxi, without being traced by the government, and to commemorate his unforgettable experience of survival, his surname is Tao (escape). When Tao Xiaoren grew up, he married and had children, with a prosperous population, and became the ancestor of Dong Ancestral Hall surnamed Tao.

According to legend, at the end of the Western Han Dynasty, Wang Mang usurped the throne and pursued descendants of the Han family. One day, Liu Xiu was chased to the foot of the north Wolong slope in Taocun, surrounded by Wang Mang's pursuers, and the fighting was getting louder and louder, so Liu Xiu had nowhere to hide. In desperation, I found a shabby little earth temple among the oil wormwood bushes on the roadside, so I thought and thought, then carefully shrank in and hid behind the statue of the earth god. In an instant, the small temple gate was covered by an Okumo net. It turned out that a red Okumo was quietly hiding in the distance, waiting for its prey to enter the net. It seems to be sleeping. It is taking a nap. Suddenly, it felt the cobweb trembling, and it was too late to look closely. When it catches a big meal, it will soon be full, jump and jump happily, and quickly seal the gap in the spider's web. It's going in to check the results. I only heard the pounding of horses' hooves, and the soldiers were in a panic. Something bad happened. Okumo was annoyed and thought his behavior was ridiculous. In fact, it would not have thought that it was its behavior of sealing cobwebs that brought it great glory.

Wealth, being sealed as a fairy, is not shown for the time being. Just said follwed in pursuit, found no trace of Liu Xiu, searched repeatedly like a comb, only to find that the spider web at the entrance of the small earth temple was intact, and the space in the temple was too small to hide, so he moved the troops inside. After dark, Liu Xiu and others fled north to Yong Dong's home in Dadong Village, and received treatment and support from Yong Dong. The next morning, the villagers found that the treetops in the river were covered with weeds, and the Qinhe River had been diverted, flying from Beishangen to Dadong and Taocun through the air. The river surged and became a natural barrier, which blocked Wang Mang's pursuers and gave Liu Xiu a chance to recuperate.

After Liu Xiu destroyed Wang Mang, he ascended the throne in Luoyang and took charge of the world. In order to repay the rescue and protection of Taocun small earth temple, he sent someone to expand the original broken earth temple, which enshrined the land god and spider fairy.

In the twenty-fifth year of Jianwu, Liu Xiu has reached old age. On one occasion, he mentioned it again. A confidant minister made a prelude: "Your Majesty, Spider Fairy is commonly known as indecent assault. It must be providence to protect Liu. The Jade Emperor sent Zhang Tianshi down to help my master. Do you think,' Zhang' opened the' Shi Tian (Silk)' net to protect our Lord, isn't it' Zhang Tianshi'? Yong Dong is not a mortal, but also an act of God, so he must see my Lord. I implore the Holy Father to issue a decree to build a' national protection temple' to reward the efforts of the two immortals to rescue the guards. " Liu Xiu was overjoyed and immediately ordered the construction of a temple to protect the country. In addition to offering sacrifices to Buddha statues, Zhang Tianshi and Yong Dong are also solemnly offered sacrifices in the temple. Huguo Temple is large in scale, with three Buddhist temples, plus east and west corridors, suites and mountain gates. * * *, 27 buildings, with glazed tile roof, north-south length175m, east-west width162m, covering an area of 28,350 square meters, or 42.5 mu. It was rebuilt many times during the Shaosheng period in the Northern Song Dynasty, Jiajing period in the Ming Dynasty (4 1), Kangxi period in the Qing Dynasty and Qianlong period. Now Huguo Temple has been repaired and is a cultural relic protection unit in Wuzhi County. There are five Ming and Qing stone tablets in the temple. These ancient inscriptions describe the vicissitudes and social changes of Taocun Huguo Temple in the past two thousand years, which are extremely precious cultural heritage and historical testimony.
