As in the past, Huineng, who had sold firewood, was walking back through Jintai Temple County when she suddenly heard a guest chanting.

Hui Neng stood quietly, listening attentively. When the man said, "You should have nothing to live in, but you should have a heart", his heart lit up as if he realized something. He immediately asked, "What are you looking at?"

A: The Diamond Sutra

Huineng asked, "Where do you keep this classic?"

A: "Huangmei Dongshan Temple is the home of five ancestors, with more than a thousand disciples."

Hui Neng thanked her, got a guest of twelve taels of silver, went home to settle his mother, and left her for Huangmei.

Huineng's father's surname is Lu and his ancestral home is Fan Yang. He became an outlaw with his mother Li in the summer of Lucun and was later demoted to Lingnan.

Legend has it that on the day when Huineng was born, the sky suddenly turned blue. At dawn, two monks went down to the door and said to Luf, "I want to have a baby at night just to protect my name. You can benefit from it. "

Ruff didn't know: "Why is it called Huineng?"

A: "Those who benefit, all beings in Hui Shi are subject to the law; Those who can do it can do Buddhism. "

Before Ruff could react, the two monks disappeared.

Huineng has no education and doesn't know a word. She is an only child. His father died young, and he often accompanied his mother and grew up with her.

It's a long journey from Lingnan to Huangmei, which is also a test of the willingness to pray for Buddha.

Arrive in Huangmei, in rags, Friday.

Wuzu asked, "Where are you from? What do you want? "

Huineng said to him, "My disciple is from Xinzhou, Lingnan (now emerging in Guangdong). They have come from afar to be teachers, but they just want to become Buddhas and have nothing else to ask for. "

Wuzu said, "Are you from Lingnan, and _? Is it worthy of becoming a Buddha? "

Huineng said: "Although people have north and south, Buddha has no north and south. _? What is the difference between Buddhism and monks? "

Wuzu was surprised: this _? Rooted in Italy. So he went to the kitchen to pound rice.

Eight months later, he won the mantle of five ancestors with a Buddhist song and became the sixth ancestor of Dongtuchan.

The Buddha is saying:

Bodhi has no trees, and it is not a stage in the mirror; Nothing. What caused the dust?

The sixth ancestor followed the teacher's words: stop when pregnant, and hide when met. All the way south, and then hidden in Huaiji, Sihui (now Zhaoqing, Guangdong) area, mixed with the mountain people.

After living in seclusion for fifteen years, he came out of Guangxiao Temple in Guangzhou and became an instant hit in Buddhism with a case of "Debate on the Wind".

Later, he went north to Caoxi (now Shaoguan, Guangdong) and lived in Nanhua Temple. He has taught Buddhism for thirty-six years, and started Nanchan Dun religion, which is his brother's rival to Beichan gradually.

In the first year of Emperor Gaozong Hongdao's reign in Tang Gaozong (AD 683), Huineng sent his disciples back to Xialu Village, his hometown in NSW, to build Hongji to repay his parents.

In the first year of Shenlong (705), Wu Zetian and Tang Zhongzong sent Xue Jian, a chamberlain, to Baolin Temple with letters, and called six ancestors to Beijing to support them. Declined politely, the sixth ancestor was old and weak, and entrusted Xue Jian to present the cassock to the emperor. Wu Zetian was overjoyed and gave the former residence of six ancestors "Guo En Temple".

In July of the first year of his life (7 12), the Sixth Ancestor knew that his life was running out, so he ordered his disciples to go back to the Guo 'en Temple in Xinzhou to build a pagoda of gratitude. The purpose of building this tower is to collect Buddhist relics. Thanksgiving Tower was completed as scheduled in the following summer. On the eighth day of July in the second year of congenital (7 13), the Sixth Ancestor led his disciples back to the abbot of Guo 'en Temple from Caoxi, and opened a church to promote Dunjiao. He died in his former residence on the third day of August of the same year.

After the death of the Sixth Ancestor, Guangxiao Temple, Caoxi Nanhua Temple and Huangmei Dongshan Temple all sent people to meet the real body of the Sixth Ancestor Huineng, but Guoen Temple certainly refused. Just as the parties were arguing endlessly, it was suggested that ancestors should decide where their souls go.

So the date is set at incense burner. You should sit down according to the geographical location of the temple, and write down the incense spot in the middle, the place where cigarettes float, and the place where the sixth ancestor really goes.

At that time, it was autumn and winter, but the southeast wind started and the smoke drifted to the northwest, so the sixth ancestor invited him to Caoxi Baolin Temple (now Nanhua Temple).

The people of NSW yearned for it and wept bitterly. That night, the Sixth Ancestor had a dream for his disciples and told people in NSW: "If the world is dry, there will be half of the harvest here. If the world is chaotic, there will always be no worries here."

Since then, the people of NSW have lived in peace 1000 years. Even if the world was in chaos, it didn't have much impact here.

Throughout the life of Huineng, the sixth ancestor, every choice he made was to honestly pursue his inner thoughts, not afraid of hardships, and stick to it.

Since then, the prediction of Dharma, the Zen master, that "a flower blooms with five leaves, and the results will come naturally" has been realized one by one since the sixth ancestor.

Hongzhou Famen, initiated by Mazu Yi Dao, a disciple of the sixth ancestor, inherited the meditation concept of "Normal Mind is the Tao" and founded Lin Ji, which has the greatest influence and dominates the world to this day.

On the other hand, if a normal mind is the Tao, then life is a natural practice.
